Jacarandas

jacaranda

Jacaranda mimosifolia
- what a superb tree. Brisbane streets are full of them now that it’s late spring. Yesterday sunflowers; today jacarandas. I’ve gone all botanical – there’s something in the air. And yes, those jacarandas are everywhere, cutting loose – building, jacaranda, building, jacaranda – it’s fabulous. Makes you want to shake your maracas and dance, baby. Purple is a fabulous colour. I learned from my German/Botswana friend (thanks Esther), and veried by through extensive one minute research on the net, that jacarnadas originally come from Brazil. I’m salsa-ing already. Samba, anyone?

Spring

Spring flowers – the market was full of them today.

I miss the  rain forest colours -  they’re utterly captivating.  But Spring blossoms, mild October days and sunflowers, SUNFLOWERS, are fantastic.

I understand why Van Gogh was so obsessed with them.  He couldn’t’ paint enough of them.   Don’t you think they beg for attention and recognition? Cheeky things.

I can’t walk away from a sunflower without a smile all over.
